One of the South Hams busiest roads was closed after a fire broke out.

A car caught fire beneath a block of flats opposite the Crabshell in Kingsbridge.

Residents of Crabshell Heights were evacuated as the fire service was called to deal with the blazing car in the car park under the flats.

Police closed the busy A379 as firefighters from across the South Hams fought to bring to blaze under control.

There have been no reports of injuries.
