The body of a man found washed up on a beach on the Isle of Wight has been identified as that of a missing South Hams man.

Michael Ferchuck, an accountant, went missing in September last year from his home in Dunstans Road, Salcombe. His car, a blue Suzuki Alto, was found at Beesands the following day.

Emergency services were alerted to the discovery of a body on the waters edge at Chilton Chine, between Brook and Brighstone in October.

This week it was was confirmed the body was that of 66-year-old Mr Ferchuck.

An inquest has been opened.The inquest has been set for Wednesday, March 28 at 11am in the Plymouth Coroner's Court.
