Police are reminding people to lock their cars and not leave valuables on show after a spate of thefts from vehicles.
PCSO Paul O’Dwyer is investigating a recent spate of eight thefts from vehicles over one night in Salcombe, Churchstow and Kingsbridge.
Between Tuesday, March 13, and Wednesday, March 14, eight cars, all of which were unlocked, had property stolen from them.
“Every car that was targeted was unlocked”, PCSO O’Dwyer explained, “there has then been an untidy search and items have been stolen, including a coat, sunglasses, sat navs, small change and prescription glasses.
“Despite the fact that the South Hams is one of the safest places in the country, we are urging people not to be complacent and to make sure their vehicles are locked and valuables are not visible.”?PCSO O’Dwyer is keen for any information to be passed to him, and is asking people to call the police if they see someone acting suspiciously around parked cars.
You can contact the police via 101, and if you ask for PCSO O’Dwyer, he can give you a call back. You can also give information anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
