Salcombe RNLI crew joined teams from Plymouth and Looe RNLI to assist the Coastguard in searching for an overdue fishing vessel near the Eddystone Lighthouse.

The crews were called on the evening of Tuesday, September 26, to help in a multi-agency search for an overdue fishing vessel with three people on board near the Eddystone Lighthouse.

Working together, the volunteer lifeboat crews located the vessel and rescued two casualties from the upturned hull and transferred them to Plymouth’s all-weather lifeboat before they were put into the care of South Western Ambulance Service.The two casualties were recovered from the upturned hull by the crew of Looe inshore lifeboat. They were transferred to Salcombe’s all-weather lifeboat where they were given initial medical treatment by a crew member who is a doctor.

Following an intensive search for the missing crew member lifeboat crews were stood down pending further information.
