A Salcombe man has appeared in court accused of threatening a witness in the Tyler Peck drugs death case.

Fifteen-year-old Tyler, a student at River Dart Academy near Totnes, was found dead at a house in February this year.

Gavin Strawbridge, of Church Street, Salcombe, is accused of harassing and swearing at a man involved in the investigation.

Court documents allege the 29-year-old harassed and threatened the witness between August 21 and August 27 “intending thereby to cause the investigation to be obstructed, perverted or interfered”.

He indicated a not guilty plea to this count at Plymouth Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 5.

Mr Strawbridge is also charged with pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to harassing the man on the same dates.

He indicated no plea for this count.

The case will be heard at Plymouth Crown Court on October 7, 2019.

Mr Strawbridge was released on bail on the condition that he does not contact the witness and two other named people.

Another bail condition means he is banned from entering Kingsbridge and Salcombe and must report to police in Torquay once a week.

Holly Strawbridge, 34, was charged with two counts of supplying a Class A drug and two counts of child cruelty following Tyler’s death.

Ms Strawbridge, of Church Street, Salcombe, denied the charges and was remanded into custody to face trial on November 11, 2019.
