Animal lovers and their canine companions descended on a South Hams field at the weekend for a dog show that is getting bigger year on year.
The Family Fun Day and Dog Show at Wrangaton Cross on Saturday drew big crowds for a great afternoon of canine capers and other entertainment.
The event featured plenty of variety in the show, from terriers and lurchers to family dogs and a few novelty classes, as well as dog and sheep racing. Elsewhere there was a bouncy castle, stalls and a barbecue and bar to keep showgoers refreshed.
Alan Baulch, one of the organisers paid tribute to everyone who supported the event, from sponsors and helpers to all those who attended. He said: "We’ve been running it for two or three years now, it keeps getting better and better.
"Thanks to our sponsors, A Salon called Fish. When local businesses pull together with us it makes life much easier. Thanks also to Dave Wookey the landowner and Tom Lyle, the other organiser."
Rob Medcalf, a director of the salon in Fore Street, Ivybridge said it had been a great day although he had not had much luck in the show itself. He added: "We try and support as much as possible throughout the year, whether it’s dog shows, point-to-points or Plymouth Raiders junior development team.
"It’s just a way of giving something back to the community that supports us so well."
