One of the longest-standing Fore Street businesses is celebrating their 45th anniversary this year.

Peter Betteridge, an independent bed retailer in Kingsbridge celebrated 45 years of award-winning customer service with a party last week.

Peter Betteridge and his wife, Angie, started the furniture and bed shop on the high street in Kingsbridge in 1973. Their passion for the business and for the local community led to a thriving business to which generations of families come back time and time again.

This commitment to quality and customer service is clear from the six awards they have won: Devon Chamber of Commerce Customer Service Excellence Award; Feefo Gold Award; National Bed Federation Award Winner; UK Furniture Retailer of the Year; and Western Morning News Business Awards including Customer Service and Lifetime Achievement Award.

In more recent years, their daughter Emma joined the business and they are now celebrating their 45th anniversary with three high street shops, an online business and the launch of their own product range.

Director Emma Casson said: “Central to the success of the business is our commitment to providing excellent customer service. Testament to this are the awards we have won over the years and the great feedback we get from our customers and suppliers.

“Most recently we have won the Devon Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Customer Service Award and recieved the Feefo Gold Award for Customer Service.

“We have developed our own range of beds and bedding, offering the best quality at an affordable price, using 45 years of knowledge and expertise of people’s needs and how best to support them.

“We are always striving to provide the very best service and products for our customers and looking for new opportunities to further develop our business.

“We want to thank our customers, suppliers and local businesses for their support over the years.”
