A CHURCHSTOW dental nurse is sharing her skills with people in Cambodia with the charity DentAid.
Carys Johns, 22, works for Absolute Dental in Kingsbridge and is travelling with DentAid to the Southeast Asian country in February to provide clinically necessary care such as fillings and free dental care, as well as education.
‘I work in a very privileged practice, we’re very lucky down here and I want to share all the knowledge I have acquired through my training’, said Carys.
Carys will provide dental care to people in Cambodia, educate them on oral health and will also help to educate the dentists in the country with her up-to-date knowledge.
In order to help people in Cambodia, Carys needs to raise funds. She needs to raise a minimum amount to cover her travel costs and any extra will be donated to the DentAid charity to further their work supplying equipment, training, and oral health services to hospitals, clinics, and dentists in the developing world.
Carys is organising a Christmas Pub Quiz at the Creeks End pub in Kingsbridge at 7.30pm on December 21, and also has a fundraising page: mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/carysjohns1 if you would like to donate online.
