KINGSBRIDGE Community College students ran the KCC Inter-School Cricket Tournament on Friday, with Thurlestone Primary being named the overall winners.
The tournament saw teams from primary schools across the South Hams taking part and the event was umpired and organised by KCC pupils, overseen by PE teacher Gary Burman, and prizes were presented by the Rotary Club of Kingsbridge’s new president Sylvia Griffin.
The Aveton Gifford Primary team took home bronze medals, Kingsbridge Community Primary’s A team took home silver and Thurlestone All Saints Primary team took home the gold.
‘The Rotary Club donated the medals and it was great to be able to present them’, said Sylvia, ‘I was so impressed by how polite every student was and it was a wonderful event.’
Gary Burman said he was proud of his KCC students who showed ‘great leadership skills’ in running the tournament and said he was ‘looking forward to the pupils joining KCC’ as they were already showing ‘good cricket skills’.
‘The behaviour and effort the students showed made them good ambassadors for their schools’, he concluded.
