A LOCAL estate agent has expressed her thanks to people who stopped and helped her after she fell on Fore Street, Kingsbridge.

Jean Goodman, of Goodman Estate Agents on Fore Street, left her office on Friday morning, August 12, for a business call and tripped on an uneven paving stone and fell, sustaining facial injuries.

Jean’s husband and fellow director, Nick, said that Sue Johnson, South Hams Newspapers, ‘immediately came to her aid and while she was trying to control the bleeding, neighbouring estate agent Chris Watkins from Charles Head called an ambulance.’

He said a passing nurse called Jenny also came to assist and Jean was eventually taken to Torbay Hospital. ‘After a check-up and several stitches, Jean was allowed home in a bruised condition but later in the day returned to the office to tie up a property sale’ said Nick.

Jean wishes to thank those who stopped to help and all the people who have sent their best wishes.

Devon County Council highways authority will only identify paving slabs as a safety defect if they are sticking up by more than 20mm. It is unknown how high the slab was that Ms Goodman tripped on.
