An event to support the Coleridge Bus is being held next month.
The Coleridge Bus, which has been running for 40 years, is staffed by volunteer drivers and supports people living in outlying villages such as Slapton, Torcross, Frogmore, Chillington and East Prawle.
Peter Hayman has organised the event, a coffee morning at Malston Barton, Sherford, on Saturday, April 14, with “kind permission” from owners Liz and David Raeburn.
Peter has a long history of fundraising, completing sponsored walks for Devon Air Ambulance, but his health has deteriorated to the point that sponsored walks are no longer possible, so he has organised this coffee morning.
Peter said: “If the Coleridge Bus folds, there is nothing left for people. The normal bus service is becoming less and less reliable and the Coleridge Bus is always on time.”
There will be coffee, tea, food, prizes, bring and buy stalls, cakes, buns, plants and bric-a-brac stalls on offer for people.
The Coleridge Bus will be running for the coffee morning, stopping at Slapton shop at 9.15am, Torcross shop at 9.40am, Stokenham Village Hall at 9.40am, Chillington Post Office at 9.45am, Frogmore bus stop at 9.50am, Lyte Lane in East Charleton at 10am and West Charleton Village Hall at 10.10am. Additional stops can be arranged, contact David on 01548 531794.
