We reported last week how a young boy suffered a very serious wrist injury when he tripped over his own dog’s lead and fell on a glass while out with his family at a South Hams venue.
His arm was badly cut. One witness said of his family: "They had a long evening in A&E, but he’s bandaged up and fine. Apparently if the cut had been an inch longer it would have been an air ambulance job, so he was quite lucky to have escaped a serious life-threatening injury."
The accident, which could have happened to anyone not aware the dog was there, occured in a busy restaurant/bar/cafe in Salcombe. But it could have happened in many similar establishments in the South Hams.
We are asking what you think. Do dogs, on leads or not, pose an acceptable risk in such establishments? What if it had happened to your child or a member of staff waiting on tables? Should dogs be banned from restaurants, bars and cafes ... as they are from many shops?
