Two days of rain at the Nine Ashes County campsite didn’t dampen their enthusiasm, as 18 sea scouts enjoyed activities which included archery, air rifle shooting, knife skills, climbing, crate stacking, sea canoeing, pedal karting, BMX biking, orienteering and a 28 mile cycle ride along the Camel Trail.
During the week long camp, the scouts cooked several meals for themselves in a Masterchef-style competition, and made contact with a troop of German Scouts who were also camping on the site.
Sadly, during the week, they said goodbye to Andy Sinclair, an assistant to the troop. After 20 years of service to scouting, Andy has decided to retire and he will be greatly missed.
Andy’s role was as sectional assistant, providing invaluable support to the troop leaders. The troop urgently needs to find a replacement. Without one, activities in the future will be hugely affected.
If anyone feels able to spare some time volunteering in this rewarding and fun movement, then please contact group scout leader Bruce Pritchard on 07970030089.
