Kingsbridge Town Bowling Club brought the roaring 20s back to West Charleton with their Gin and Jazz evening.
Held at the village hall, entertainment was provided by Becky Brine for the celebration of their centenary season. Keith Baston said: “The brilliant Becky Brine went through her repertoire of jazz favourites and was later backed by the Gazunder Band as members and friends danced the night away.
“Gin cocktails were available and a two-course meal was provided. Fancy dress was the order of the day and Al Capone, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd were noted attendees. Luckily they left their machine guns at home!
“The evening was arranged by Events Organiser Sue Allen and Marion Thorne who with spouses Graham and David spent many hours testing the cocktails and the food with exceptional results. The Master of Ceremonies was Ray Lancaster and a raffle was organised by Carole Baston and Peter Hadley.
“The event was an outstanding success and was a tremendous prelude to the centenary season.”
The club are also organising a Hog Roast on July 15, as part of the celebrations. Find out more about the club on their website: kingsbridgetownbowlingclub.org
