Two housing projects have been recognised in a prestigious awards ceremony for building excellence across the South Hams, West Devon and Teignbridge area.
The Devon Building Control Partnership handed awards to a number of local builders, architects and their clients in a ceremony held in Newton Abbot.
A property in East Prawle was awarded Best Individual Dwelling for the work carried out by Barry Freeman of Harrison Sutton Partnership, Nigel Timmis of Abbey Manor Group and Steve Pengelly of Jenkins and Pengelly.
The category of Best Social & Affordable Housing was awarded to Peter Sadler of Kier Living for the Reeves Way housing development in Churchstow.
The DBCP awards building designers, builders and developers who achieve high standards of workmanship, project management and sustainability.
The winning entries were nominated by DBCP’s professional surveyors who visited the sites during 2016.
Andrew Carpenter, head of Devon Building Control Partnership, said: “We work with a lot of construction professionals in South and West Devon and many continue to exceed expectations in terms of quality, attention to detail, low carbon awareness and the use of sustainable construction.
“With a huge amount of pressure to reduce the housing shortage it is pleasing to see that this hasn’t affected the high standards continually witnessed by our surveyors.
“By promoting our local businesses and in presenting these awards we can highlight those making a real contribution to the success of the area covered by the Partnership.”
In its fourteenth year of operation, the DBCP continues to deliver building control services to businesses and householders across the South Hams, West Devon, Teignbridge, and Dartmoor National Park.
