A bag of money was handed to Kingsbridge 6th Cubs on behalf of WM Construction and Oceans Restaurant and Bar.
Kris Mahon, WM Construction SW, handed over £500 to Josh Hassall of the Kingsbridge 6th Cubs, which was raised through a raffle at the Oceans Restaurant and Bar at a party in celebration of WM completing Kris’s first major project under his sole directorship.
The raffle raised money for Kingsbridge Scout HQ which is extensively used by many local groups including Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guides. Josh is the son of Ocean Reach developers Sean and Hazel who were “pleased to have WM create their amazing Vision on Bolberry Down”.
The Scout HQ is a special project to support as Kris served his apprenticeship laying blocks when the HQ was first built in Derby Road, Kingsbridge, and Kris’s children also are involved with young people’s groups at the site.
Sean said: “This is a great example of local entrepreneurs putting money back into the local community where it belongs and supporting local youth organisations. It clearly demonstrates how generous and kind the South Hams people are.
“WM have now started the second phase of this £2m project which we are proud to say that all the money has been spent in the South Hams economy.”
Mike Court, maintenance co ordinator for the Kingsbridge Scout HQ said: “We are thrilled to receive this generous donation especially with the history behind it. It will be well spent on maintenance immediately.”
