I would like to respond to Gerrie Messer the 2017 Parliamentry candidate for Labour on her comments regarding the ‘bedroom tax’.
You talk about there being too many large family homes and a distinct shortage of smaller properties, but not once did you mention the ‘bedroom tax’ and your knowledge of how it affects local people in your constituency or what you intend to do about the ‘bedroom tax’ on behalf of your constituents.
So please could you clarify your position on the ‘bedroom tax’ and if you intend doing anything about it.
I would like to point out that there is no shortage of people renting three-bedroom houses who have asked me through Homeswapper to swap this four-bedroom house with them – the crux of the problem is the ‘bedroom tax’ is stopping us from moving to a smaller property in the first instance.
