THE 6TH Kingsbridge Scout Group have been working with the Woodlands Trust to plant several pairs of oak trees within Watkins Wood in Woodleigh.
Armed with spades and bags of enthusiasm and accompanied by family members and friends, the group set out on a glorious autumnal afternoon to plant the saplings.
The trees were planted to mark the occasion of the centenary of cub scouting.
Nikki Curzon, 6th Kingsbridge Cub Scout leader said: ‘As this year draws to a close, cub scouts from across the district are reflecting on their achievements and adventures that have occurred during this centenary year of cub scouting.’
The centenary celebrations close with a sleepover on Friday, December 16 at Exeter University, where cubs from all across the county will gather at an event to renew their promise at the precise moment that Lord Robert Baden Powell started the cub scout movement 100 years earlier.
